So much happening and so little time...

Wow... I haven't been logged in to my own blog in forever! So hello, blog. Did you miss me? Well, I have been so prioritized lately I haven't had time to blog! Time to update. Pics later... such a procrastinator I am. We have been birthday partying with K's friends, Easter egg hunting fun, playing outside- what beautiful weather lately-, doctor visits (ob-gyn), big tennis- Boardwalk Invitational- so proud of my husband for pulling that off, playing at the boardwalk, riding bikes, NAPPING (mostly me), EATING (mostly me), working on K's 1st year baby book(I would like to finish before #2 comes along), spending quality time with family.

I had to see if my fingers could still do the talking! I've still got it, so see you again soon!

Share your Gift.

Have you ever been to a party or shower for someone and you can't wait for them to open your gift... not because you want to show-off, but because you think they will love it. You took great time and pride in picking it out, wrapping it up, writing a special card to go with it and you just can't wait to see how happy you make them.
Now, have you ever been sitting there and the person opens it and just barely says anything and puts it back in the box? You don't know whether they liked it or not? It makes you a little sad that they are not sharing it, because that means they probably don't really like it or appreciate it.
Now, if you are a Christian, did you ever think God might feel that way? He has given us the most special gift in the world. His Son, Jesus.... If we hide our gift away and never share it, I can't imagine how He must feel. We should be so excited about our Savior that we can't contain it.
Others need to have a chance for this gift... so, again... if you're a Christian I encourage you and myself... Share the Gift! Acts 8:35 "Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus."

Tornado Damage

Please keep the people affected by the tornadoes in your prayers. It turns out that my dad had to hold his door shut all night. My cousin who attends Union University, had glass cut into his back and leg and had to get stitches. That is a blessing! To view Union's site click here: Union

De-Clutter Challenge

Oh what fun! Seriously. I LOVE cleaning out something when I can see the end clearly. I am good with zones, one at a time. I have to be focused on one or I'll get overwhelmed and resort to drinking a cup of coffee and eating... or blogging.
So. I was excited when a friend, Holly, challenged me to tackle something and take control of it.
Here is one drawer in my kitchen I had already tackled the day before, so I didn't get a 'before' pic. But just imagine cups, mugs every which way but upright.
And now This- a happy home for Nemo and his friends!

The next place I'm tackling is my pantry! Since we moved in the house it has taken over me and now I plan to take it back! Here's the before:

Keep watching for the after! I'm not sure how long that will be, but once I do start, I will have to finish it that day.

Does Soap Get Dirty???

Yes, the burning question of the day... can soap get dirty?
I was refilling my soap dispenser with blue soap. It had a little of the green soap left over and I really liked the blue color I just bought. So I decided to empty out the green first. I couldn't just dump the green down the drain so I put it in a little bowl. Later I dipped my fingers in the green bowl and then was going to wash my hands. Then it got me thinking... is that sanitary? My fingers were dirty before putting them in the bowl of soap. So- did I contaminate that bowl? That's why I have never liked bar soap, by the way. A pump or some sort of dispenser is always my friend. This time I was just trying to not be wasteful... so what do you think???

37 and trying to spoil a SURPRISE!

Pat just turned 37. We had a birthday party planned for just a few family members over for some hotdogs and cake! Kamri of course helped me with EVERYTHING! The cards, the cake, some more cards.... I had to come up with thing to keep her busy, because once you tell her a birthday is coming, she thinks it's supposed to be 'right now'.

She was really excited when I busted out the icing! Her finger somehow kept swiping it and ending up in her mouth. I know, unsanitary. But I tried to watch it and scraped her part off with a knife. She got smart... instead of sticking around... she swiped some and ran off... I literally could not find her for about 5 minutes! But eventually... there I saw her little feetsies sticking out from under her umbrella chair in her room. I hurried up and quietly came back with the camera! Gotcha! Ha,ha!

So on to the present...
1st. A little background info. My husband has got to be the hardest person to buy for in the world! He doesn't claim to want much, but at the same time, he is not easily pleased with gifts. Just because I like it doesn't mean he will. I can't even pick out clothes for him half the time. So this year I asked him while back what one thing he wanted that he didn't have since we moved in our house. Well, he mentioned the glider/recliner casually. But in my mind it was like a fire engine siren. I planned to get it. Well, one word- PROCRASTINATION. ok. so I didn't get it in time. 2 days before the party I was searching the internet, found it, but also couldn't get it till 3 or 4 days after going to the store 45 minutes away to purchase it. So I decided to put a picture of it in an envelope to have him open... then we'd get it next week.
Now. David and Lyndsey have a truck which most likely we would borrow to pick it up.
Now. Yesterday before the party. Pat says casually, "I saw David and Lyndsey earlier on the road." To which I reply,"ok... and...did you wave?" Pat-"yeah...(pause).... they had some big box in the back of their truck."
So there you have it! My husband tried to pry a look out of me to see if I would blush or something if he had guessed the present. Well, I got him back because, they didn't have the chair. remember, I had only a picture of it! ha. You should have seen his face when they pulled in for the party... with nothing in the back of their truck. Pat was the one blushing then!
But he was wished happy birthday later with the picture and we'll get his chair this week!
Happy 37th honey! Can't surprise you can we!

Any of you have someone like this... difficult (in the nicest sense of the word)? What do you do? Any ideas? I am a prankster by nature and after almost 8 years of marriage I have lost some of it due to th fact that I can't trump him! So any thoughts that would help me to "get" him. You know... Valentine's Day is coming up! HELP! (and this time it has to be cheap!)

Soup Swap

Last week we did a Soup Swap! It was so much fun and so easy. Making one big batch of the same thing is much nicer than having to cook several different meals with different ingredients. Then you leave with 1 of every one else's soup. I recommend it to anyone! Besides the good food you get to have later, the fun with girlfriends can't be beat!
We all introduced our soup, where it came from and it's ingredients and that was a special part too.
So I look in my freezer about every other day and say mmmm.... can't wait to use (the next soup)... but I save them for days when I am rushed for time and just thaw & heat! Ahh... how nice!

Sentimental about wood.

Sentimental... excited... exhausted. Just 3 of the many emotions I felt today as my husband started the destruction of our old house to make it into a garage.
Since we moved into the house in 2001/02, I have never thought I would feel sentimental about this day. It was to serve its purpose as our 1st little house and then its destiny was to be a garage when we built our dream home.... that would be that and I would be more than ready.
Well, we woke up this morning and the task began. I was cleaning out the closets so they could be torn out, opened for the garage. Pat was sawing out sheetrock and ripping down walls. I was on a mission most of the day and didn't even think about it being sentimental....
Until... I walked in and could see all the way through from the kitchen to Kamri's bedroom with only a few studs separating us. I started tearing up. I realized that the place we were holds so many memories and now they would only be upheld by pictures and not walls. First of all, the fact that my dad and my husband built it with their own hands and now remembering them nailing each piece of would together and it being torn away, just gave me chills. I can't go back. Second, it was "Our 1st Home"... made up of so many memories (some good and some hard), nevertheless MY memories and I wouldn't trade them for anything! Third, it was the place our 1st (and only right now) child was raised her 1st 2 years of life. Which brings me to my next topic.
Children's emotions. Kamri has been sentimental about the old house since we moved into the new one. When we walk over there once in a while to get something, she say's "but, this is where we're supposed to live." Although she has embraced her new pink room, she hasn't completely given up the thought of being in the other room. I think it was like a comfort to her... small, cozy, familiar. So today, she just looked like, "Dad, what in the world are you doing tearing up our walls?" So we all sat down in the midst of the sheetrock dust (bad for the health I know), and had a pow-wow about it. We explained to her that when it's pouring down rain outside and we have to run to our car getting soaked and cold, that we and our car would be much happier to have a dry place to get into. That was the best I could come up with at the moment. She seemed to understand and went on playing. All day she kept coming in saying, "Daddy, is the garage ready yet?"
Well, it'll be a few days, but it's coming.
Writing is healing. I feel much better having written down my thought of this day. Now I'm really ready for my garage!

What do Daddy's know???

We went to lunch today with my cousin, her husband and 2 kids, and Kamri. My cousin said her husband came home yesterday with a cheeseburger for the 2 year old. When she questioned why he had a cheeseburger for the 2 year old, he said, "He said that's what he wanted."
She went on to explain we (mom's) do not ask what a 2 year old wants, we just know. And many times they do not know what they want, they just say something and then won't eat it. Besides the fact that a 2 year old has no business eating a cheeseburger.

So to that my husband says, "We just treat them while yall (moms) are trying to raise them."

Let that statement soak in... read it again. "We just treat them while yall (moms) are trying to raise them."

How profound and true and wrapped up in a nutshell. Somedays it's like we work so hard to enforce manners and good habits, and then the lock on the door turns, "Daddy's Home!" and it's all undone!

I have to say, my husband has so many good qualities and I guess I'm not perfect! All in all daddy's do know a lot, but there is definitely a real thing called "mother's instinct" that we are blessed with!

SHARE....

It was easy to pick my word for 2008. For a while now, I have been planning to SHARE more. I have started already and it is so much fun... little by little, even though it puts me out of my comfort zone for a short time, it's worth it knowing I am being pleasing to my savior.
So, what do I want to share???
My faith with others. I will share the love I have in my life because of Jesus. I will share what I am learning from the Bible with others.
Also: I will share nail polish, rings and necklaces with my little girl. I will share lunch with friends. I will share with friends how much they mean to me. I will share time... with others.... TIME is the most important gift I will share.
I WILL GIVE UP BUSY-NESS TO SHARE TIME with MY LITTLE GIRL, MY HUSBAND, MY MOM, MY MEME, MY OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS AND MY FRIENDS... AND MOST OF ALL, MY JESUS. I will use the time He gives me and Pay it Forward to others and Back to Him.

Stolen Identity!

Ok... so I had forgotten my password for a while and it was very frustrating. I could read but not write on my own site. It was like I could not be me and journal what I wanted. I finally got it today! Now on top of this...

Last month, I had my identity stolen, social security card (I know, I know. I wasn't supposed to be carrying that.), along with credit cards, bank cards, bank statements, a gift card to Pier 1, a gift card to Starbuck's, money, checks, receipts... this list could go on and on.... One of the most dear things they stole from me was something I can't replace... pictures! My digital camera with my card in it, which contained over 80 pictures on it... our first Thanksgiving in our new house, etc. That is one lesson for me... download often and backup! And journal, in case pictures aren't around, I will have my memories.

So for the past month I have still been trying to get everything straightened out with the credit card companies, banks, credit bureau, etc. I almost have it all done... It all came during the holidays and such a busy time that it was hard to get it all taken care of, and I'm a girl who doesn't like taking care of this kind of business at all!... so it takes me even longer than most people to get to things like this.... believe me, a 3 year old girl doesn't like making a bunch of trips to the bank (inside) either. But the policeman was there to help- that's another story.

I am still waiting for my license to come in the mail... hey, I'll get a new picture- yeah! I waited 2 hours in the line... it better be good!

So all that to say.... today when I got this password figured out again... I felt like a new woman. So much has been taken from me this past month and now I am getting me back!

Enjoy life, be cautious, know who you are in case someone tries to take YOU, download often... and only carry a few things with you!... and by all means, if you forget your password to blog, you can get out the old pen and paper! Yes, journaling on pen and paper is still allowed and quite comforting too! Love who you are and BE!

Our Wonderful Week!

Before you read any further, I will tell you... this is for me. I just want an online journal so I can recall the days later. It's important to me since I forget little things so easily. It's not the most interesting thing though, if you're not Me. hee, hee.
This week was full of fun little treasures...
Monday- Kamri swam in her little pool, fed the goats and we played puzzles with Elmo and Cookie Monster, and did our grocery shopping for the week.

Tuesday- As usual now we stop through at Shipley's and get donut holes for on the way to school. I know it's not healthy, but she doesn't eat but a few and it really helps her to get dressed faster (yes, bribery!) And at MDO Kamri had a substitute teacher and I thought "oh great here we go again with the crying stage" but to my surprise and great joy, kamri was a Big Girl all day! Yeah... I love it when she runs up to me after school, hugs me soooo tight, and says "Mommy, I didn't cried today. I had a good day!"
Later we got to call my 1st niece Kaylee to wish her Happy 9th Birthday! Happy Birthday Kaylee! You're a sweetie!

Wednesday- We ran to the grocery store for the few things we forgot Monday, then went to see my friend who had her second baby. Sooo cute. I held her for 2 hours... I forgot how sore your arms get holding a baby for so long. Kamri got to play with the big brother Blaine too. Then when we left, we saw a pumpkin patch on the way back home, so we stopped. It was an absolutely gorgeous day! Kamri loved walking through and touching all the pumpkins and then she picked one to buy! She then had a good nap and I got to read my bible a great prayer time while she slept. Then to church. She had a good time in class! However, in the hallway after church she got wiped out, I mean totally knocked over by a lady who just didn't see her. It must be tough to be short! She was shaken up but ok.

Thursday- So when we were off to MDO, we sat on the road in one spot for literally 15 minutes. The construction crew decided to pour the road concrete at school time! As Kamri and I sat in the car singing our songs as usual, I couldn't help but laugh at several people... One was the lady in the van in front of us. She just kept throwing her arms up in the air as if to tell the policeman (who was directing traffic) "Let US go now!" I just let her gripe for us too! The other person I was laughing "with" was the little girl on the corner... there was a whole posse of kids waiting for their bus right where we were stopped. One girl was just dancin' away! It was like she could hear our music because her beat was matching up... even though our windows were up, just coincidince. This was no ordinary dancing. She was about 10 years old all decked out for school that day and she was definitely a bold personality. She scooted off the corner onto the street as if to dare the cop to tell her to scoot back. Just about that time one of the moms that was waiting there motioned for her to come back and she slowly, to her own drum, be-bopped back onto the corner... what a hoot and great entertainment for me! Did I mention that she had a bluejean skirt with sequins, a headband and a FRO sticking up about 5 inches every direction on her head??? That made it even better....Hee, hee...

Later after Kamri's nap, she got to draw on her pumpkin and give him a face (sort of ). So adorable! And I got to write out some of her Birthday invitations while she played in the pool. Any advise: every time she gets in the pool, she stands there legs apart looking down and just lets out her potty. Well yesterday the painters happened to be outside taking a break on our back porch... I quickly turned my head and looked at our dogs as if I didn't even know she did it. How do you break a (almost 3) year old of this habit?!?!


Friday- Whew, can't believe it's Friday! We went to Reliant Park with mom and meme to buy tickets for Disney on Ice, Nemo. It is a birthday present from mom (memaw) to Kamri and we'll go 2 days before her 3rd birthday! Got my oil changed... now my car won't beep at me! And made a couple of store stops on the way back.... I had 3 more pallets of grass delivered so we can have a complete yard by the time of K's birthday party coming up!
Meme and Memaw sat on the back porch for a while with me when we got back and watched Kamri swim. I noticed there was a froggie swimming with Kamri and then it was on.... My meme is the biggest prankster ever, so off she went chasing Kamri all over the yard acting like she had the frog! Oh if I had only had my camera ready! mom and I were bent double watching meme and Kamri dump water on each other and then, when Kamri heard meme say, "the frog's on your back" it was the fastest change of emotion on her face I think I have ever seen. She went from elation in a full sprint to a dead stop and straight face and said, 'what, where's the frog, meme?" it was not a game at that point. then quickly the games continued! what a blessing for her to have her grandma and great grandma playing with her in her back yard!
When daddy got home, the fun continued. Pat and I had to shovel a huge pile of sand around our yard where we will lay some more grass tomorrow. So Kamri was queen of the sand pile and covered in it till the mosquitoes got too bad and we called it a night. Now she's sleeping like a rock.

We've had a great week and tomorrow Pat has a few guys coming to help him spread out the grass and move his shed then we have a birthday party for my sister in law tomorrow night. And church on Sunday! I didn't mention Pat a lot because we don't see him these days until night time usually. But I am thankful that we have had a few nights of just sitting and talking together. Last week was our Marriage seminar at church and it really helped me to get back to focus on what is important in our relationship. Great speaker- David Yasko!

Good stuff, Not so good Stuff!

So, on Thursday K decided she was a big girl again and took it down to just one meltdown at MDO! Yeah!!!! After school, she was so excited because we got our school T-Shirts in... of course she got hers because she was a "big girl"! Then we got home and our electrician had put up her Pink, with Pink flowers ceiling fan... again, this happened K, because you were a "big girl"! It was so cute, she just sat there (after a long squeal) on the window seal looking at it with me. After taking off her tennies she told me they were too small and sure enough the poor girl had a blister from them... This of course, happened because she grew that day, being a "big girl"! So many good things happened that day... all due to being a "big girl"... see how fun it is!!!???
Next day... we got carpet!!! K got carpet... big girl! After much play time and oohhh ahhh-ing, we couldn't find K for a minute. We had all been in mine and Pat's room and he thought she went into our existing house. I went in to call for her and had a feeling come over me... I knew what the little miss, who had been being a "big girl" was doing... not being a big girl right now.... That 'mother's instinct' came over me. I immediately ran to her new room and found my hunch to be true... my sweetie pie had just "marked her territory", like a dog. That is her new room alright! So... good stuff: being a "big girl"/ not so good stuff: "big girl" overkill!

1.What I was doing 10 years ago- September 1997:

I was attending University Of Mary Hardin-Baylor working towards a BA in Spanish. Jessica was my roommate. We spent most of our time pulling pranks and just having good old fun! All the girl stuff you can imagine with some studying in there... Dorm Life!

2. Five years ago was September 2002:

I had been married to my adorable husband for two wonderful years! I was finishing up my Teaching Certification Program, had taught HS Spanish for 1 year and was teaching 4th grade that year. My dear Dad and husband had also built the house we live in now and had been living in it for less than a year. It's plan was to be our garage eventually and it is now happening! We have built on our dream home and what we live in now will soon be our garage.

3. One year ago September 2006:

I had been working at MDO for about a month, and K was in my class. We went to school together I guess you could say, for that school year Sometimes I would joke that she taught school instead of me... go figure! She was definitely in her element, while I was tiring of smelling and changing poopy diapers all day.

4. Yesterday, September 17 (Has it been that long since I blogged!!!!-WOW!):

K and I made a MK delivery, ran to the grocery store, played on the trampoline (yes, I jump with her alot and the neighbors laugh at us). We had lunch on our back porch fed the goats (not ours, the neighbor's), and I cleaned, did laundry and cooked. I also prepared some hand flower crafts for our MDO grandparent's luncheon for Thursday. And the part we waited and waited on was the delivery of our appliances, which finally came at the end of the time slot they gave us- whoo hoo!

5. Snacks I enjoy

Anything chocoalte, raw, slightly warmed cookie dough, and lately I have really enjoyed those Garden Salsa Sun Chips> AND I LOVE COFFEE with lots of cream and sugar!

6. Things I would do if I suddenly had $100 million dollars:

I would first give to my church to further the spreading of the gospel. Then I would pay off my home, college loans, mom's house, put away some for K's college fund, and take our whole family on a trip (which is mom's dream to be able to pay for us all one). Then I would buy a condo in Colorado so we could go snow skiing whenever we wanted, and a condo in Hawaii or somewhere tropical for the spring/summer time. I'd have some fun money for girl time, and money to give to those I see in need around me! Ok, ok... I think I'm close to out of money again :)

7.Locations I would run to:

Hawaii, Italy, Sweden, Germany... just a few of the places I would love to go.... I am a world traveler by nature, just need more money to do it all!

8. Bad habit I have:

Please do not ask my husband... and I plead the 5th!

9. Things I like doing:

As long as I'm with family and friends I like doing just about anything! I love water skiing, snow skiing, riding jet skis, boating, laying out in the sun next to water, and riding our scooter! I also love teaching kids and watching them soak it up!

10. Biggest Joy of the Moment:

I had to go to Home Depot today... again. Well my joy 2 days ago was that Pat took K to tennis practice with him so I could actually think at HD staring at the isle full of various lights so hard to pick out. Then today my mom kept her for a couple of hours so I could do the same thing again... yes picking out lights (alone) was my biggest joy today! I just like time to myself every once in a blue moon! And K's first tennis practice went great but she got a blister on her foot from running with the team!

Beautiful Sunny Day...

Last week we got our back porch patio furniture in so, Sunday I cooked a roast and we ate outside and enjoyed the weather. It is a little hot right now, but we were in the perfect spot for shade and a nice breeze. Later on when it was time for K's nap I told her she could lay outside in the patio chaise lounge if she closed her eyes. Well she is one to fight sleep in a new place. So after a few threats of having to go inside if she didn't close her eyes, she drifted off to lala land! Then I myself laid down and went to the deepest sleep with her! AHHH... that hard sleep when you don't even know what day it is when you wake up! Then out of nowhere- BANG- a door in our new house slammed. Well, right now everything echos 10 times louder than normal because it's all concrete still. It was our A/C guy, and yes, I had to go over and greet him, face imprinted with the outdoor material of the chair and all! I am sure he got a good laugh out of that. He wanted to talk to Pat so I got to go inside and wake him up from his nap. Through it all K stayed asleep! Goats next door even tried to wake us up to feed them, but nothing was going to make her budge on that Beautiful Sunny Day...

Tennis Star in the Making...

Well, K looked too cute! Pat brought home a tiny tank top that matches the team's tanks for K. So Tuesday after MDO and a nap, we got "dressed Out" Wildcat style and went to the Tennis courts. The team and parents couldn't get over how big K has grown since last year and it was such fun just watching her interact with these highschool kids. She ate it up. They really are sweet to her... the ones who weren't in matches played catch and chased balls with her. She got to "coach" with daddy and thought she was BIG STUFF! It was so cute to see her chest swell with pride as Pat asked her if she wanted to help him out! He has been really busy with the house lately and Tennis matches until late at night, so for us to get to go to a match was a huge treat to her... she cried the other day and said, "because I lost my daddy". She is having such a hard time right now, going through the separation fear stage I guess... crying all the time at school and just can't be soothed sometimes. But when she's with us it's all good. Grandparents Day?

Yes, today is Grandparents day! I told mom that yesterday and she said it was just another excuse somebody wanted to use to get to have another day of celebration for something. Then she must have been thinking about it and called me later to say she wanted to take her 3 granddaughters to Cici's tomorrow after church. Well, of course! They ended up going to Olive Garden where Kaylee wanted to go and had a great time. Happy Memaw Day! The only problem is that she took them out to eat... one day they'll take her out though. Meme spent the day with Peyton. Happy Meme day too!
